MARATHONS ARE HARD ... ALZHEIMER'S IS HARDER.
This December 19th, I'll be running my 19th marathon -- the 3 Bridges Marathon, in Little Rock, Arkansas! I'm an "Athlete 4 ALZ," running to raise funds for Alzheimer's San Diego, and would really appreciate your support. My goal is to raise $1500 in 2015 (I raised $676 when I ran the Famous Potato Marathon in Boise, ID in the spring), and I'm sooooo close. CAN YOU HELP?!? Through the generosity of a recently-announced matching gift, all funds raised between now and December 31st will have double the impact!
Alzheimer's disease is the sixth leading cause of death in the U.S. today, and the only one of the "top ten" fatal diseases that has NO known means of prevention, treatment, or cure. One in 9 people over the age of 65 currently suffers from the debilitating effects of Alzheimer's or another dementia: memory loss, cognitive decline, and changes to one's personality and behavior that wreak havoc on families emotionally, physically, and financially. Let's put an end to it in our lifetime.
Your donations provide for direct services that support families affected by Alzheimer's disease and other dementias, fund community health education programs, and support critical research and drug discovery. Recently separated from the national Alzheimer's Association, our independent and locally-operated organization relies upon the generosity and support of individuals and corporations who believe in our mission. Learn more about us here: www.alzsd.org.
Donations of any size are welcome through this page - it's quick and easy, and it will mean the world to me in those tough late miles of the race, to know you've not only got my back, but the backs of the 5.5 million Americans currently living with this disease.
With my sincerest thanks for your consideration and your kindness,
Amy @therunnershi
